Skin care tips by urban herbalist

Here is a post to share a couple of nutritional tips for looking after your skin as much as possible (and for reducing acne in case you have oily or acne prone skin) πŸ•Š the tips are carefully noted in a post by urban herbalist, a healthy and wellbeing hub who are noted to include naturopaths, herbalists, a nutritionist and a pharmicist and who are based in auckland, nz 🌸 a couple of the nutrition tips noted include cut out sugar, increase fibre, avoid dairy, eat more omega 3, get more vitamin D, get more zinc and take probiotics and hope noting the tips could be helpful !

I suffered from severe acne in my early teens (from about 14 to 15 years old) and understand how much clear, comfy and healthy skin, and the nutritional and lifestyle choices often connected to looking after your skin as much as possible, can really help to lift up your self confidence πŸ€— I hope the tips could be helpful in case you could be suffering from acne, or in case you could be hoping to look after your skin (and wellbeing) as much as you can !

Nutrition tips by urban herbalist

Cut out sugar

as noted by urban herbalist, insulin resistances increases insulin like growth factor, which blocks pores and increases sebum production. It also increases androgen production by which increases acne.

Increase fibre

as noted by urban herbalist, fibre prevents androgens from being recirculated in the body

Avoid dairy

as noted by urban herbalist, dairy is inflammatory and increases androgens. This also applies to whey protein. If you supplement with protein, consider switching to a plant based alternative, like pea protein.

Eat more omega 3

as noted by urban herbalist, anti inflammatory = less acne

Get more vitamin D

as noted by urban herbalist, great for inflammation/insulin resistance

Get more zinc

as noted by urban herbalist, shown to improve insulin resistance and hormone balance

Take probiotics

as noted by urban herbalist, probiotics help to improve skin health by decreasing inflammation, reducing insulin resistance, and assisting with hormone detoxification
