Water with fresh lemons, limes and ginger

Here is a post to share a simple and easy to make recipe for a summer drink, made with just a couple of natural ingredients, including fresh lemons, limes and fresh ginger πŸ•Š my cousin Pete carefully chose a lime tree from a plant nursery where he and his family work just a couple of years ago (in 2016) and there are a lot of limes growing on the lime tree in our garden 🌸 I often make the summer drink with fresh lemons and limes from the trees in our garden at home to help to keep as hydrated as possible, and hope the summer drink recipe could be helpful in case it is warm and sunny where you are from too, or in case you love fresh fruits a lot too.

Water with fresh lemons, limes and ginger

(for 2)

Ingredients

  • Fresh water
  • 1 fresh lemon
  • 1 fresh lime
  • 1 small piece of fresh ginger (about 2 cms)
  • fresh mint leafs (optional)
  • ice cubes (optional)

Method

Fill up a couple of glasses with fresh water. Carefully slice half of a lemon and half of a lime into thin circles, and add to both of the glasses of water. Carefully add the juice from the other half of the lemon and the lime into the glasses of water (you could use your hands or a lemon squeezer in case it’s easier). Finely grate the ginger, and add to the two glasses of water. You could also add a couple of mint leafs and a couple of ice cubes to the water in case you would like to, and enjoy 🌸

Notes

You could just use fresh lemons in case you can’t find any limes close by to where you are, or you could use a different kind of citrus fruit you enjoy (could also include grapefruits, pink grapefruits or oranges).

Lemons: as noted in the book 100 Best Health Foods, there are valuable nutrients and antioxidants in all parts of a lemon, and lemons are an especially good source of vitamin C. Further, warming a lemon in hot water for a couple of seconds will help you to be able to get more juice out of the lemon when juicing.

Ginger: as noted in the book 100 Best Health Foods, the plant compounds in fresh ginger are anti-inflammatory, can help to calm nausea and aid digestion, and contain powerful cancer-destroying action. Further, fresh ginger contains the highest levels of beneficial compounds, and can be stored in the refrigerator.
