Here is a post to share and note a bit about organic matcha, a superfood, which helps to look after your body and wellbeing. I just bought an organic matcha green tea powder by BioBalance (@biobalancenz) a couple of days ago, and am looking forward to trying the organic matcha for the first time 🕊 the organic matcha powder is a bright, fresh green colour and is often used in smoothies, baking and lattes as a more nutritious alternative for coffee, and the organic matcha could be helpful for someone who is quite careful or health conscious, or could be hoping to drink a bit less caffeine 🌸
About organic matcha
As noted on the packaging for the organic matcha, the powder is made from green tea leaves, which are carefully hand grown in shady highland valleys of Japan. Further, the ancient practice of blocking out sunlight just 20 days before harvesting the green tea leaves helps to concentrate the production of amino acids, catechins and antioxidants, to bring out a strong natural green colour and a mild and pleasant taste.

A matcha latte recipe
Here is a recipe for a plant based matcha latte, created and posted by the minimalist baker (a link to the website is here). I am hoping to try the recipe as soon as I can, and it sounds so delicious and nourishing with the plant based milk and maple syrup. The matcha latte recipe is noted to be dairy milk free, made with natural sweeteners, and a creamy, antioxidant rich blend.
- 1 1/4 teaspoons of matcha powder
- 1 tablespoon of maple syrup (to taste)
- 1 tablespoon of hot water
- 3/4 of a cup of light coconut milk
- 3/4 of a cup of macadamia nut milk
Optional ingredients to include
- 1/4 teaspoon of maca root powder
- 1/4 teaspoon of ashwaganda
- 1 tablespoon (15 g) of coconut butter
Add matcha powder to your serving mug along with sweetener of choice and hot water (if adding more ingredients, including maca, ashwaganda, or coconut butter, add at this time)
Whisk with a bamboo whisk or a metal whisk until completely dissolved. If you don’t have a bamboo whisk, you can use a spoon or a metal whisk or even blend the latte in a blender. Bamboo whisks are gentle on the matcha and also help it dissolve more completely. So if you like matcha, I recommend investing! Otherwise, use what you have
Once the matcha is completely dissolved, heat your coconut and macadamia milk (or other dairy-free milks). I added mine to a frothing pitcher and steamed on our espresso machine, but you could also heat in the microwave or on the stovetop until hot and steamy. To get more froth, you can whisk vigorously or use a handheld frother.
Pour dairy-free milk into your mug, latte art optional. Taste and add more sweetener if needed. I found that, when I used the macadamia nut milk, I only needed a bit of maple syrup or stevia to sweeten. Enjoy immediately.
